The Prefontaine Family Christmas visit to Franciscan Children's Hospital

We did our 8th annual visit as a family to Franciscan Hospital for Children. Since Nick left there in 2003 (See Nick’s video at www.nickprefontaine.com) we’ve made it a tradition to forgo gifts for us and to give to the children there. The day before we were there Shaq O’Neal and several Bruins were there so I’m sure that was much more exciting for the kids, but having gone through the amazing experience of them literally giving Nick his life back, we love going yearly!

New territory PRE LAUNCH TAKE AWAYS

I spent a few minutes after traveling home for 24 hours to jot down some “take aways” for everyone on how to open any local or International market!

• No – your market is not unique. It’s amazing to Kim and I to hear in each market: “…but you guys need to understand our market- it’s different, more difficult here…”. We hear it everywhere and I have one huge take away for you – No, your market is not different. This leads me to another take-away…

• It’s the passion and excitement in YOU that builds a major business. The basics and lots of passion and excitement. The few that filled consistent meeting slots were those who were excited and had a huge WHY. It had nothing to do with their skill sets at that time as they weren’t even trained yet. Get super clear on your WHY and your goals and get after it and people will want to follow that – be a magnet.

• It takes three to five -three to five passionate, excited people as the core group to create an enormous group.

• Fundamentals - Blocking and tackling. Can you imagine a football player not doing their squats or bench presses during training?...Yet so many of us in Network Marketing sometimes forget that all it takes it the basic blocking and tackling. “It’s all about recruiting for the first 5 years…”. How many of you are willing to do whatever it takes and continually practice the fundamentals for 3-5 years so you can have what others won’t for the rest of your life?

• You prejudge and it’s death to your business. We meet with some of the best and brightest and in fact wealthiest and guess what – they act the fastest and start an elite culture. You can prejudge or you can start a massive business with the right culture – you absolutely cannot do both.

Excuses Excuses

Absolutely no one who is good at making excuses is also good at making money! The skills are mutually exclusive.

I hear on a weekly basis from some people in my organization about their terrible past, their failures, their challenges and constantly remind them (at the risk of being considered ridiculously blunt) that as soon as they stop whining about that and focus on their goals, they’ll succeeed…period.

When Sylvestor Stallone kept his belongings in a bus station locker, slept in alleys, and scrounged food from dumpsters early in his career he could have made many excuses. He didn’t…the rest is history.

Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen were rejected by numerous publishers, published many books, audio cassettes and entire courses without being noticed and could have made excuses about why they couldn’t go further. They persevered and succeeded with Chicken Soup for the Soul…the rest is history.

Start today creating paths to your goal versus making excuses.

How much do you spend on YOU?

You can load yourself up with software programs, fancy devises, computers, etc but all that means absolutely nothing if you don’t have your “inner game” under control.

I encourage you to visit www.Tools2TheMax.net and load yourself up with “inner game” tools like those from Jim Rohn, my good friend Todd Smith (“Little Things Matter”), Robert Kiyosaki and many others.

You simply cannot afford not to.

What would you like to accomplish in 2011? You can raise the bar by raising your inner game. You raise your inner game by spending time on you and money on you. You are your most important asset – treat it with care!

Quick Update from Israel!

Hi Guys- we have a chance this morning to breath before the large meeting tonight.

Quick update:

We have seen well over 50 new people in private conference room setting meetings every two hours since Monday 10am.

We have met with all existing distributors that were kind of sitting after all the delays and they are more than excited.

Tonight the larger meeting will have over 50 and I’m optimistically planning on more and will let you know. Our goal was 100 new this week and we will surpass that.

We squeezed in another large ad yesterday and received over 25 calls that are converting for tonight and we squeezed in another 5 min radio spot that also generated leads throughout the day yesterday. We will run a small line ad when we leave that will run continuously until spring launch.

We were going to sleep Thursday then fly out and maybe catch a view of Jerusalem on our only day of chill but there is huge demand for a meeting there so we’re heading there for lunch, doing a 6pm Biz Overview and then flying out at midnight. A couple of our key platinums are there and run a hotel that we’ll use.

We are getting the overview filmed this evening and will use that for the in home DVD and Ron is filming the compensation and the scripts training and that will be available for his troops by next week.

Ron’s wife is recently engaged in the biz (never was) having met and strategized with Kim Pre and is working the phone amazingly from Boston and has very influential guests coming tonight – real good.

“Lie Down with Dogs; Wake up with Fleas” , Marilyn Monroe

Yes, who you hang out with matters immensely…who you hire matters…who you do business with matters…who you have on your team matters.

I remember one of Jim Rohn’s sayings: Who are you hanging out with? Who are you listening to? What do they have you doing? What do they have you saying? What do they have you reading? Because of that, who are you becoming? Then the magic question – are you OK with that?

Hanging around poor people is no way to grow rich. Hanging around people who place very little value on time will diminish your productivity. Any professional athlete knows that if you really want to improve your game, practice and play with people a notch or two better at it than you are.

"I don’t have time to read!"

You actually cannot afford NOT to read. You absolutely must read in order to succeed. I was rereading Dan Kennedy’s “No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs…” for the 3rd time and made a list of his reasons for staying on top of your reading and making it a daily habit:

1. Varied, diverse input, ideas, viewpoints, life stories, examples, all the essential raw material poured into your subconscious mind, for it to sift, sort, try matching up with other puzzle pieces it already has, so it can occasionally yell “Eureka!” and hand you something profitable.

2. Without exposure to others. Thinking, your own range of thought shrinks. Soon, you’re a mental midget. Your range of thought narrows, like your range of motion shrinks if you don’t move and stretch.

3. You can’t stay current.

4. Set an example for your kids, people you lead, employees, etc..
The own leaders of Franklin, Massachusetts, once wrote and asked Ben Franklin for a donation so they could buy a bell for the church steeple. He sent money with this note: “I’m honored you have named your town Franklin and a donation is enclosed. However, I suggest you start a library with it rather than buying a bell. I prefer sense to sound.”

Strive to link everything to your goals

There would be more millionaires in every industry and specifically the network marketing industry if people would find ways to link everything to their goals.

Jim Rohn used to say that the only reason more people do not become millionaires is that they don’t have enough reasons to. When we talk about the network marketing industry (and hundreds of other industries) industry, it’s never because of lack of opportunity.

Why are you doing what you’re doing right now for your income generating vehicle? First, I should ask if you’re thrilled with what you’re doing and if you stay on that current vehicle, do you have the opportunity to create all that you want? If that answer is NO, let’s start by choosing a different vehicle.

Once you’re on a vehicle that you know has the potential, then you can explore your personal WHY and link as many reasons as possible to your goals. I know that can be difficult to do when times are tough. I’ve been in tough times more than I’d like to remember, but I also remember that focusing on my goals and the reasons WHY is what got me out of those tough times.

You’ve probably heard the adage: "When you’re up to your neck in alligators, it’s difficult to remember that your original objective was to drain the swamp."

So if you’re in tough times right now or not exactly where you’d like to be, keep at least one eye firmly fixed on your list of goals and the associated reasons WHY.

How Much Time Are You Spending On You?

Where were you 10 years ago ?

Think back to the year 2000. Did you think you’d be where you are right now? Are you happy with where you are right now? I ask because 2020 is right around the corner. Imagine the possibilities. Do a self check because if you keep doing what you’re doing you cannot expect a different result.

The network marketing industry had approximately 10 million distributors in the year 2000 just in the U.S. and now has doubled to 20 million in the U.S.l WOW – People are increasingly attracted to the industry because it answers their most pressing need: financial security.

If you have not dug into the industry and chosen a company you WILL miss the wave. I have a bias for my company, but by all means- get in one and don’t be part of the millions of people that go to sleep wondering how they are going to keep their homes, feed their children or take care of aging parents.

Solving problems is how you create prosperity.

I love the publication “Networking Times” and I wanted to quote Brian Klemmer who is the founder of Klemmer & Associates. He did a great piece in the Nov/Dec 2010 edition.

“Solving problems is how you create prosperity. Teaching others how to solve problems creates an exponential amount of prosperity. That is network marketing, and that is why, when it is done correctly, network marketing professional can create a much more prosperous world for themselves and others.”

Comfort Zone

A Motivational Poem
My Comfort Zone

By Author Unknown

I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I wouldn't fail.
The same four walls and busywork were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you're in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.
Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

IS YOUR TREE DYING?

Recently, a young tree my wife Kim and I planted in Newport, RI began to die. This bummed us out since we love the landscaping and especially the stuff we plant ourselves!

We called in a tree and shrub specialists from Massachusetts who we’ve used in the past. He fertilized it and his team did their thing, but it kept dying. Finally, I took a garden hose out and soaked the roots twice a week for over a month. Within days the leaves and overall growth started to explode from the previously dying branches.

All it needed was a little more water (what really happened was the drip line that took water to the trees was clogged and we didn’t know it). Today, the tree is quite happy and doing well. All it needed was an environment to grow in.

The same is true with people in Network Marketing. Many people do not grow because they are in poor environments and poor leadership environments.

Since I always harp upon the idea of who you’re with and who you listen to, let’s take this idea of environments a little further. I’ve listed five ideas for you to consider.

1. If you want your wealth to grow: go to a place where people are getting rich (like Network Marketing right now in this economy). You could also join an investment club, or start a study group or join a forward thinking and meet new friends who also want to grow rich; interview people that are doing extremely well. I’ve done this and continue to do it and always come away feeling great.

2. If you want your intelligence to grow: reach daily. It’s a fact that you’ll be in the top 2% of your industry by reading 15-30 minutes daily. Go to a library, bookstore or school.

3. If you want your health to grow: go to a gym, ride a bike, kayak or generally get out and play or walk. Seek out nutritionist or other health specialists.

4. If you want your spirit to grow: go to church, find a quiet spot and meditate or pray more. I’ve been meditating now for over a year steady and it’s something that has helped me tremendously. It’s also something that I would never imagine myself doing a few years ago.

5. If you want to expand your world: go to places you’ve never been before…do things you’ve been afraid of doing before.

Sometimes the fastest way to change and improve yourself is simply to change your environment.

Prospecting Regardless of Where I am in the World

I went for a run before the San Diego meeting tonight.

As I ran I envisioned the rest of my day and evening with the California group. When Kim and I got back to the room we sat and did 3-4 hours of calls to build up our RI event this coming Saturday, 9/25 (EVENT LINK) and fit some coaching calls in there as well.

Tonight’s meeting with Michael Varbaek, Joseph & Rowena Murray and Author Robert McPhee will be an awesome one (pictures to follow!)

We leave tomorrow to return to RI. Get ready to hear about a new recommended reading as we have a long flight :)

Big Island Hawaii and Honolulu Super Saturday!

We enjoyed a lovely dinner in Hawaii during our visit to the islands! Thanks to everyone who welcomed us with your gracious hospitality...and great job to all of the leaders!

Be Part of Something Huge!

I love a quote by one of the top Realtors in the Country that was in a coaching group with me back in 1995, Karen Bernardi: “Keep out of the suction of those drifting backwards because they’ll take you with them.”

So, keep moving and staying vibrant for sure and do it with those going, or already, where you want to be.

We should always be training ourselves personally, physically and business specific.

Not studying and improving yourself is like being a leaf that didn’t know it was part of a tree. That’s an interesting visual I know and it applies to many people.

We are individually responsible for our education, and that applies to whether you’re in school, business, an apprenticeship, etc. So don’t just sign on the dotted line & then stop improving. You’ll be a lost leaf.

As you think big, expand your learning, & grow – you’re expanding your net worth. That’s what significant success is about.

This is during our travels to the Big Island in Kona Thursday September 16th.

We'll See You in San Francisco!

September 14, 2010
Kim and I left Newport at 5:30am EST for our 7 day road trip to San Francisco, The Big Island in Hawaii, Honolulu Hawaii and San Diego.

We arrived in San Francisco after a 6 hr 45 min flight because of the head winds and snuck a run in before having to scoot over to the Western for the meeting. (A little healthy Adrenalin does the body good). We had a jam packed meeting later that night with Global Directors Katie and Cully Fredricksen, Michael Varbaek and Author Robert Macphee! (Manifesting for Gurus) - there were about 65 in attendance!

Left 6:30am PST for our Hawaii flight…
