Break Paradigms if You Want to Have Breakthrough Results!

So many people assume that those on top of their profession simply do things better than everyone else. Not necessarily.

In many cases, they simply do things differently from everyone else.

My real estate coach Mike Ferry used to tell me to look at what all the other realtors are doing and do the complete opposite if I wanted to succeed - so I did.

Brett Hull was an awesome hockey player and he commented about freeing himself up in an open area on the ice in order to receive a pass. Most would think it's about skating faster or being qjicker to get open - he actually learned that it was often about going slower, and always about going at a different speed than others.

Outrageous tennis player John McEnroe broke paradigms with his outbursts and literally changed the entire interst in the game of tennis - intentionally.

So...if you want different results than most that you know and see and hear about - be willing to go in a different direction, be willing to be different...and even after you've broken a paradigm, you absolutely must continue to challenge yourself and if you do not, others will!

Can you change Direction?

I know many people come into the network marketing profession with huge hope to change things over night.

Often times those expectations are mismanaged and the belief dwindles and they drop off.

If there's one thing for sure it's that this profession can and will create a financial metamorphis for you if you'd like it to.

Will it happen over night?  NEVER - what business does?

You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction over night.

You can start today with one little thing that can help move you in a new direction.

What is that one thing you can change today?

'We're Talking About Practice'

When I talk about discipline and I mention the Power of One Daily Discipline chart, sometimes I hear people comment "That discipline stuff is hard..."

When I look at some of the most successful people in our business they have enormous belief and the ability to be disciplined to carry that belief out.  You really do have two choices:  You can suffer from either the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.

Set yourself up with the proper discipline so you look back 36 months from now and say "I'm super glad I did.....versus...I should have."

Bermuda Day 1!

Spent an hour resting on the beach after our 4am start in RI then worked the night in Bermuda

How Do I Find Amazing People for my Business?

How Do I Find Amazing People for my Business? I hear questions like this a lot as everyone would love to have THE most successful people in their business. Well I have the magic pill for you:

From "12 Pillars" by Jim Rohn

"To attract attractive people you must be attractive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract."

It all goes back to personal development guys - you increase your check when you increase your value to others.

Have Dinner with the Rich and Famous

How cool would it be to have dinner with the most successful people you know and pick their brain for hours upon hours?

I have a way for you to do that!

Read their books. Spend time immersing yourself in their books. When you do that you open yourself up to new ideas, and new ideas are the seeds that grow in our minds and, when applied, become our achievements & successes.

Enjoy your dinner!

An Iron Will

Just finished reading a book by Orison Swett Marden. I think in past posts I referred to him as Orson Wells. Not sure what I was thinking.

Anyway, this short 1 hour read is a 1901 classic - "An Iron Will." Pick it up along with some of his other works and enjoy. Interesting how things don't change. This amazing material has been available for hundreds of years - we just have to apply it!

If you can dream it, you can do it. It's kind of fun to do the impossible. Walt Disney

If you can dream it, you can do it.  It's kind of fun to do the impossible.  Walt Disney

If you have not clearly written out your goals and are not reviewing them on a daily basis, you're missing huge opportunity.  It's amazing to look back through old journals, old notebooks and see affirmations and goals that we've written and to realize that we've accomplished 90% of them.  OK, so think about it - you dream it, think it, write it, study it ...and it may happen after you throw extreme focus at it?  Why not do that regularly then?  Try it...then give it a year or two...and enjoy.

Incidentally, did you know that Walt Disney mortgaged everything he owned, including his own personal insurance, to fund the $17 million construction of Disneyland?  Or that Oprah Winfrey, the child of a single teenage mom, was sexually assautled a the age of nine?

I could keep going with stories of people like Steve Wynn who took over his father's bingo company while still in college because of his father's sudden death.  The bottom line is that most winners have faced enormous obstacles and have failed multiple times...no matter how bad it got - and still succeeded.

No matter what you're dealing with now, don't you dare give up.  If you're in our profession, listen to Ronni Ackerman's 1-3-5-7 philosophy on last weeks' go diamond call

Best Buy Birth an Accident

It's always great to hear great things coming from challenging times or even disastrous times.

Did you know that the modern day electronics superstore was born out of adversity? A tornado had leveled one of Dick Shulze's small retail stores. To sell off the remaining merchandise, he held an aptly named "Tornado Sale" with an unusually large selection of goods from all his stores but at one location with low pricing and heavy advertising. It was a huge success. He then opened at the time an unprededented 18,000 stores in 1983 and started the name Best Buy.....you know and see the rest of the story I'm sure.

When dealt a blow - because we all will - how do you react? Everything for a reason, find it...by accident.

How's the Family?

From "Win" by Dr. Frank Luntz:  When I speak to ..."captains of industry,Hollywood elite, sports celebrities - icons for all agest...they all have one thing in common -  regret that no amount of money or power can change...family.  In five words, it's the lack of family time."

I cannot stress enough that this network marketing profession is quite amazing.  Here we have the ability to create unlimited income and lifestyle (and, by the way, not income to buy material nonsense, income to buy the things money cannot buy - time and time with family) and it's overlooked by millions of people that you can go expose it to.

If you're reading this blog and you are not part of the network marketing profession, How's the family?  Do you know?  You can take back control of your time with your family, as well as your finances - right now - by exploring and doing a careful due diligence of the profession...and then pick the company that best fits you.

Do you love what you do every day?

It's one thing to work 16 hour days because you have to and it's entirely different to work 16 hour days because you love what you do and are passionate about it.

Do you love what you do every day?

I do or I wouldn't be in this profession and the second I cannot say that, I'll be gone! When done properly, network marketing is not just the best way to move product around the world - Warren Buffet , Donald Trump, Richard Branson and many others already agree on that one - it's also the best way to live and the best way to learn. Having gone through the hurricane and a move that took all of July and into August essentially, I can tell you after 37 months of building our business that it paid us very well during the transition and chaos.

If you are not full time in this industry, is your income model, job or profession such that you can - when and where you want - take a month off and see your earnings go up?

If not, you need to take a strong look and conduct a proper due diligence on this profession if you're not in it yet.....if you are and just not full time, what plans do you have to put in place, what activities do you need to engage in so that you can be.

WHY would you get up every day and do something you cannot emphatically say "I love this so much I can do it 10-16 hours a day or I can shut it off at will and still get paid...."

Simple decision...dramatic breakthrough in lifestyle.

Bill Clinton and Constant Improvement (CI)

Regardless of your political interests and preference, Bill Clinton practiced Constant Improvement (CI).

I'll give you a great example: For him, networking wasn't just a matter of passing out business cards, collecting those of others, and making the most of the time at the event before calling it a night or a day. He also just didn't rely on his charisma by itself.

Instead he had a habitual practice of coming home each night and meticulously recording each conversation in a growing library of index cards. He committed to memory not just where someone worked or what someone did, but really who they were. So the next time he saw them, asking "How have you been?" it wasn't just an empty formality - it was loaded with a complete understanding that allowed him to meet that person's individual need to be known and valued.

What can you do to use his example directly in your network marketing business?

Well, you could do exactly that with all your conversations in your computer or manual file or index cards. You could also analyze every conversation you have and then practice ACAA with your leadership.

Engage daily in CI activities because as you grow you...you grow your check. Not only that but I promise you your check will shrink if you are not growing YOU. This is not a lottery or get rich quick industry. This is an industry that pays you well to grow you and help others grow.

One of the programs I'm studying now is the "Great Courses" series called "The Art of Public Speaking: Lessons from the Greatest Speeches in History". What are you working on this week to grow YOU?

Email me and let me know.

Fish Rots from the Head Down

Are you thrilled with the results of your business right now?

If you are not do as Ron Druyan mentioned on the Go Diamond call on Friday 9/9. He said to look in the mirror. It starts with you.

Ask yourself this: "If my group did what I am doing right now ...every day... would my business grow and would I be happy with that pace of growth?"

To quote Don Corleone and Aga Khan, "Fish rots from the head down"...so set the pace for you and your group starting today!

Sponsor what you're not!

One of the many benefits of the network marketing profession is that we can sponsor what we're not and surround ourselves with a team that compliments one another.  This is not about necessarily trying to take your weaknesses and improve upon them.  Yes, I worked on things like presenting, etc that needed work and I used to shake at the knees when trying to speak to a group, but that's something that I knew was necessary as part of my plan to be a leader in this profession.

Interesting though is the fact that identifying and effectively articulating priorities may be the single most important component of successful people in any industry and we have the option of streamlining our focus for what we do well and sponsoring others that compliment us.

For example, you won't see Oprah Winfrey programming computer code and you won't see Bill Gates hosting a book club!

Focus on what you're great at and sponsor and attract others that can fill in the holes.

Kim and I are a good example of this concept.  One of her many strengths is that she can network in a small room very very well and leave knowing everyone.  I would rather speak to hundreds if not thousands or tens of thousands in a room.  So when we travel together we compliment each other.  If you're a great people person but not great on the computer...go sponsor someone that is.

Build on each step. (Don't skip the important stuff!)

Would you try to run before you knew how to walk?

Would you dive into water without knowing first how to swim?

You can't skip steps successfully in business or life if you plan on improving and honing your skills. When Kayla started riding horses at age 7 (she's 21 now) she wanted to jump 2-3 feet high just like all the great riders she saw.  If she tried to do it when she first started I'm certain there would have been a serious safety concern not to mention her being petrified to do so without building herself up first.

So what did she do?

She started walking the horse over fence posts!  Fast forward 14 years and she now jumps over 3', trains ponies and horses and teaches kids to ride and jump, etc..

Well in the Network Marketing profession, it's no different.  You have to take daily steps - be in action daily - in order to build up your confidence.  Use things like the Power of One Daily Discipline Sheet because little things do really matter!

Where will you be on 12/31/2011?

As we have conference approaching rapidly, I invite you to think about how you want your 12/31/11 to look.  It's really up to you.

Do you realize that the 4th quarter season (9/1-12/31) is historically one of the best growth seasons in the network marketing profession?
Do you realize that means you can literally create anything you want between now and year end...if and when you know what that is with the utmost clarity!

Ask yourself two questions:
  1. How badly do you want that result 12/31/11?
  2. Are you willing to do what it takes to move from ordinary to the extraordinary?
You have the absolute right to expect this amazing profession to provide everything you want so that, among other things, it brings life-changing impact.

You'll hear Kim and I at conference talk about the pain and struggle we went through in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and how this profession changed that.  Many of you have heard bits and pieces of our story but none of you have heard all the details.  You'll hear that in Vegas and walk away with the hope, knowledge and tools to create a Re-engineered lifestyle.

Email me and let me know where you want to be 12/31/11 with your business and if you're willing to do whatever it takes.  That could be more personal development, more workouts to get your body in order to support your new dreams & goals - whatever it takes.
